DRYPOINT:
BEGINNING INTAGLIO PRINTING

SATURDAY/ SUNDAY January 17th and 18th 2:00-5:00

Learn how to edition an intaglio print: a print with incised lines scratched into a flat surface. Using Akua non-toxic intaglio inks and wet paper you
will “pull” the ink off the plate.
Enjoy the linear quality of drawing on a 9 X 12 plate AND playing with wax carton etching. Wiping the ink off the plate leaves room for creative substractive techniques. While editioning 6 prints an additional 4 prints will allow for a print exchange with participants.
This weekend workshop offers instruction, printing support and studio time to play with this exciting medium.

~MONOTYPE INTENSIVE!~
THREE DAY EXPLORATION
March 10th, 11th, and 12th
@ NEW MEXICO ART LEAGUE
3409 Juan Tabo NE Albuquerque, N.M. 87111
Monotype prints are just that: a unique one of kind
print, often called “painterly prints” due to the
spontaneous nature of this process. Enjoy the textures
and soft values that only monotypes can create.
During this workshop students will learn how to pull
monotype prints using Akua liquid inks. Akua inks are
non-toxic and clean up with rubbing alcohol. Working
on a polycarbonate plate (matrix) we will manipulate
the ink with a brayer and a variety of mark making tools
and materials. This process will be explored first with
only black ink and end with layers of colored inks. We
will learn the basic monotype printing techniques:
additive and subtractive mark-making, stencils,
registration, offset and ghost prints. Chin collè- aka:
collage prints- will also be introduced to give the
process even more exciting options to explore. The
printing process can be as experiential and open ended
as you want or as controlled: using Chin collè and
stencils. Your final compositions will be exciting prints
reflecting your preferences in imagery. We’ll wrap up
the workshop with time to view our prints and share our
insights and discoveries made during this three-day
printmaking adventure. Come learn, play and create
with ink and a brayer!
Open to 6 students.
